I am married to Kathy, We have one daughter, Kim, who is married to Ben Forbes. Together they are the parents of our two beautiful granddaughters, Gracie and Josie. I am a retired State Highway Patrolman. I earned my Associates in Theology in 2016 and soon after I began my journey as a pastor.
My duties as the Pastor at Screven Baptist Church are preparing sermons by researching and writing about how to present Bible lessons to the congregation to meet their spiritual needs. Officiating at special occasions in the lives of the congregation, such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals. As well as, Helping the church ministry by attending to administrative duties.

Though people adopt many things seeking fulfillment in life, it’s only when we embrace a vibrant, growing faith in Jesus Christ that we understand life and fully live. Faith in Christ shapes our values,
fuels our worship and promotes our message. Faith in Jesus Christ is at the core of our way of life at Screven.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Jesus put energy into connecting people and pulling individuals together for the common good. He did so persistently, intently, and sometimes effortlessly even when he was in the presence of those he didn’t know very well or who didn’t like him very much. Jesus organized people so simply and succinctly around five basic practices to deepen commitment.
Matthew 19:14
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Our children's & family ministry exists to see families in our church become followers of Jesus Christ with a strong HEART for God. We will accomplish our vision by partnering with our children's parents to guide kids toward a HEART for God, through:
What is our goal? The goal we should have in any ministry, no matter what age, is to make disciples. Disciples that are on a journey of lifelong faith as followers of Jesus. We can teach children a lot of important things, but it is essential - in fact, above all else, that we teach them about Jesus and what He did on the cross for them.
Please consider joining us on Sunday mornings:
Sunday School 9:15
Children's Church 10:30
Depending on the age of your children will determine what class they attend. We also have a nursery for babies until the age of 2 and then they move up to big kid classes, respectively.
Please bring your children into our sanctuary and someone will introduce themselves to you, to your children and we will bring them to their classroom for loving, kind, hands on learning.
Our passion to serve means that we are here to serve one another, both in the church, in the community and in the world. We seek to provide specific opportunities for everyone to have a place of service.
We are a passionate people.
Our vision statement is "A Passion for God, A Passion for People, A Passion to Serve."
These are the foundations for our living a life for Jesus Christ.
Our passion for God is exemplified largely in our passionate worship experiences. Since worship service is usually the first experience one has with the church, it's important to us to seek to create an environment in worship that provides for an encounter with the living God.
Our passion for people is played out through everyone's involvement in a Home Group. Many people are initially intimidated by coming to church. But the church becomes small through Life Groups. They are the place where we not only learn about our faith but also where we take care of one another. Our passion for people is also exemplified through our desire for everyone to feel welcome, regardless of background, life stage, ethnicity, or any other characteristic that may describe you.
Our passion to serve means that we are here to serve one another, both in the church, in the community and in the world. We seek to provide specific opportunities for eveyone to have a place of service.
